How to talk about price without scaring the customer away
You have probably noticed that almost nobody posts prices, and almost everybody complains about wasting time on people who ask the price and vanish. Those two things are the same thing.
What "DM for pricing" actually does
It does not hide the price: it postpones it. Whoever was going to find it expensive still will, only after you have spent fifteen minutes replying. And the person whose budget matched often never asks, because asking a stranger for a price is awkward.
So you filter backwards: you lose the right customer and keep the conversation with the wrong one.
Ways to say the price without a full price list
Not every business has a fixed price. But every business has a range, and the range already does the job.
- The starting point: "from R$180". States the floor without promising a ceiling.
- The range: "most of my cakes land between R$200 and R$400".
- What moves it: "price changes with size and decoration, not with flavour".
- A real example: "this one, for 30 people, came to R$260".
Price in a post is content, not an ad
A post explaining why it costs what it costs is worth more than one that only states the number. How long it takes, what is included, what you refuse to do. That answers the question behind "how much?", which is "is it worth it?".
And it has a useful side effect: someone who finds it expensive after understanding the work does not come back to haggle. They leave on their own, without taking up your afternoon.
When you genuinely cannot publish a price
There are legitimate cases: bespoke projects, building work, consulting. Then publish what determines the price and a range from past projects. "Projects between R$3,000 and R$12,000 depending on size" already filters better than silence.
What does not work is total silence. It does not protect your margin; it only protects you from an uncomfortable conversation, and the cost of that protection is the sale.
One post a month about price, said clearly, saves dozens of conversations. It is exactly the kind of topic ReadyMonth puts into the month, so it does not keep getting postponed.
