How often to post per week (and why the answer is not "every day")
The answer everyone gives is "every day". The people giving that answer usually make a living creating content. You make a living baking cakes, cutting hair, or fixing air conditioners.
The frequency that matters is the one you keep
Three posts a week for a year is a hundred and fifty posts. Seven a week for three weeks and then nothing is twenty-one. Plus an abandoned account, which is worse than a slow one.
The algorithm does not reward posting a lot. It rewards posting regularly and holding the people who watch. Regularity is the part you control.
How to find your number
Take last week, not the ideal week. How many hours were actually left after serving customers, producing, and delivering? If one hour was left, you are not making seven good posts. You are making three.
Then add the format. A story costs two minutes, a carousel costs forty. "Five posts a week" means very different things depending on the format.
- Starting out, no time: two a week, always on the same days.
- Up and running, with an hour a week: three to four, mixing light and heavy formats.
- With someone helping: five or more, and then it is worth splitting by theme so you do not repeat yourself.
Fixed days are worth more than volume
The people who follow you do not count your posts. But they notice when you disappear. Posting Tuesday and Friday, always, builds a habit on the other side, and habit is what makes someone stop scrolling when they see you.
It also makes your side easier. "Tuesday and Friday" is a decision made once. "Whenever I can" is a decision every single day, and that is why it never happens.
Increase later, not first
The order that works is: keep two a week for a whole month, and only then try three. The order that fails is starting at seven because a video said that was the minimum.
If you have already missed once, go down instead of trying to catch up. One month of two a week carried to the end is worth more than two months of seven started and dropped.
